Love Jesus?

                   but not religion? 

 

            For us, being the church is doing life with Jesus, together.   Knowing him has changed our lives in ways the Christian religion never could.  We’ve found new freedom, new meaning for our lives, real joy, and lasting hope.  Because of these experiences, we want to share his love with others by serving the community, and by helping one another become the men and women we were created by God to be.   Church is who we are.  It is not a place we go.  It is not an event we attend.   It’s our identity as followers of Jesus.

 

What does Jesus Tribe look like?

            We’re very relational and that’s our emphasis.  We have a group that meets at Satori Coffee House on Monday nights for an open discussion of Scripture.  We offer the Alpha Course for anyone who wants to explore Christian beliefs.  We do a monthly downtown outreach in conjunction with the LoDa ArtWalk.  We go on Prayer Walks, praying for the people of our city.  We encourage folks to be in Life Transformation Groups.  We look for opportunities to start new groups (a.k.a. “Simple Churches”).  We get together for Community Worship.  And we work and serve to see RV Taylor (a public housing project) radically transformed by the power of God’s radical love.

 

How is Jesus Tribe different?

            We try to keep it simple.  The New Testament churches changed the world, yet they had no “professional” pastors, no buildings, no property, and no real programs.  They met in one another’s homes and public places, where they ate together, prayed together, shared together, and supported one another.  As they expressed selfless love, societies were transformed.  Our goal is to follow their example.  We don’t have any full time staff, we’re committed to never buying property or having buildings of our own, and we generally avoid programs.   We want to keep our focus (and finances) on others.
